Have you ever been frustrated with feelings of powerlessness in every day situations? Peter, in a letter to his fellow believers gave some instruction that could help.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
(1 Peter 4:10 NIV)
Paul also taught that each one of us has a specific gift from God by which we bless others. He further elaborated that as each one serves in his or her capacity, the entire community of believers is strengthened and unified. (Romans 121:3-6, Ephesians 4:13-16)
This is very empowering. But it takes a certain amount of faith in what God has said He will do while we focus on the things that He wants us to do – those things He has in fact enabled us to do!
You and I are not powerless in Christ! Our power is found in serving others in the special capacity that uniquely belongs to each one of us. He will in turn direct that power towards those things for which we are praying.
What a mysterious and wonderful plan!
