Have you ever had a rock collection? As a little girl I had a dandy! I thought there was no other rocks in the whole world as beautiful as my rocks! Then as I became a grown woman, I came upon another rock that was the most precious of all, JESUS CHRIST!
In the book of I Corinthians, chapter 10 & verse 4, it tells us that the children of Israel drank of a spiritual ROCK, which was CHRIST. To drink of Christ is to fill your inner self with the knowledge of Him. As you drink fluids, they become a part of you for nourishment. When you drink of Christ, He becomes a part of you to nourish your spiritual self. We talked about feeding your spiritual you in our last issue, called, Spiritual Me/ Natural Me. All through the bible it tells of Christ as our Rock and what a blessing it is to be living upon Him.
Let me share a little bible story with you. Look in the book of Matthew chapter 7 and verses 24 to 27. A WISE man built his house upon a rock: and when the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, it fell not, for it was founded upon a ROCK! A foolish man man built his house upon the sand: and the rain came and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house and it FELL, and great was the fall of it.
Christ is the ROCK and if we build our house, or our lives, on Him, we will not have to fear the storms of life which may come our way. For He is there to always help us in the time of need. The book of St. John, chapter 16 and verse 33 says: In the world you shall have trouble: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. We are in the world and because we live in the world, situations and troubles will come from time to time. But through building your life in Jesus, we, through Him can overcome our problems. In the book of Psalms chapter 94 and verse 22, it says "But the Lord is my defense; and my God is the ROCK of my refuge." Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know we have someone to turn to that loves us more than we'll ever know, and has all the power of the universe to help us out of our troubles! It's certainly helped my life go better the last 22 years. I cannot even imagine living on the sand! What a scary thought!
My song is: He brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the
miry clay and set my feet upon a ROCK (Jesus) and established
my goings. And He hath put a NEW SONG in my mouth, even
PRAISE unto our God! (Psalms 39 verse 2 & 3).
Everything I tried to do in my life without God, for the first 25 years ended up as nothing. After, Jesus became my ROCK and FOUNDATION my life has taken on new meaning. I feel that I'm here for a purpose. We all need a purpose for living. I hope that you will not have to waste 25 years of your life building on sand. I encourage you NOW, TODAY, to seek God, even in your YOUTH and start your building the right way. Build on JESUS CHRIST, the ROCK!
