Today we are going to discuss a topic that would not be in the top ten list of popular sermons, but a much needed one just the same. We would rather talk about the love and forgiveness of God than to deal with our shortcomings and failures. But this fact remains: even though our God is rich in mercy, and the personification of unconditional love Himself -- the consequences of sin are just as deadly as ever.
Many today need a greater revelation of the Grace of God to be sure. Turn with me to Titus chapter 2 verses 11 through 14:
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Here we see both the power and purpose of God's grace, as it lifts us up into a higher life.
You see Jesus has saved us from something, but
also for something! Also, Listen to 2 Timothy 1,
starting at verse 8:
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
Oh how sad it is when Christians begin to see their life in God as a performance test! They seem to think the Lord is watching very closely, just waiting for them to slip up, so that He can write it down in some enormous book!
Listen to me very closely: Your salvation from the world and sin was purchased for you at a great cost! Never, never, never take it for granted, nor accept it in vain!
God has a wonderful purpose for mankind, that springs forth from deep within His Father-heart! He has delivered you from sin for that purpose, which was conceived in His mind before the world began. In His thoughts it will never be forgotten!
The solution to sin was found in the Cross of Christ. I plead with you to enter into your own study of this most glorious truth! May we forever glory in His Cross, and continue in the power that flows from it! The Cross of our salvation will also lead us to the path of a fulfilled life, one that is ever conscious of the life of God and the sense of purpose that it brings.
There is a way that seems right to a man, and the end of it is death. But there is also a way that appears to be one of death and dying. This Way becomes the road to a rich, full, abundant and eternal life!
God has a purpose for your life, and the pursuit of that purpose, whatever it may be, is the key to your overcoming of sin! You see, the word "sin" simply means, "to miss the mark."
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
God had a purpose for man from the beginning. He was to rule the earth and become an expression of the nature and character of God. But Adam missed the mark when he chose his own way, cutting himself off from his source and the actual means for fulfilling God's purpose. This was the beginning of death and the downward plunge of humanity into darkness. All of creation became subject to futility, emptiness, and meaninglessness -- but with hope!
Adam's failure did not hinder nor discourage God. It simply provided Him the opportunity to do something that was already in His Father-heart -- to give of Himself!
Oh to plumb the depths of God, and to search out His endless generosity! Who can discover it, or locate it's limits?
Hear it ye saints and sinners! Become captivated with the superabounding grace of our God! Receive today this message of good news! He has redeemed you from habits, addictions, and bondages, but also from a purposeless and meaningless life!
Hear His Voice calling you today to rise up and walk! It is time to begin walking down the King's Highway of Holiness! It is a road that not only leads to life, but one in which we immediately begin to know the very in-breathing of His Life!
There is Life in receiving God's forgiveness. There is Life in hearing His Voice! There is Life in obeying His commands! And there is Life in beginning today to find and fulfill His purpose for you, which was conceived in God from the beginning of creation!
If sin is missing God's desires for you, then righteousness must be the fulfilling of them. But how are we to do this? Does He conceive a plan, but fall short of implementing it? Does He give us commands, without empowering us to obey them? Most certainly not!
Rom 8:1-9: There is therefore now no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after
the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. (Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his).
2000 years ago Jesus told His followers to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father. The long promised coming of the Holy Spirit would empower these ordinary people to do superhuman deeds!
Beloved, you do not have to wait. The comforter has already come. Accept His salvation now! Answer to His commands, and realize His Lordship now! These are the only requirements for becoming empowered by His Holy Spirit to overcome the chains of sin and the meaninglessness and emptiness that you are drowning in!
Then you can be a witness unto Him! He wants to show others through you, that there is a purpose for their lives as well!
You must then stand fast in the liberty wherein Christ has made you free, never to return again to the slavery of missing God's best for your life!
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Many believe that these are the closing days of this age. One thing for sure, my days, your days in this present realm are numbered! In the days that remain, let us press on to the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!
Let us apprehend that for which we were apprehended of our Lord! Let us love one another and give our all towards helping one another realize the purpose of God for all of our lives!
Then sin will no longer be an issue, for no time will remain
to even think about it!
Heavenly Father, we are both weak and often ignorant of your hearts desires, but today we are looking to you for you to share them with us. Release us from our own ambitions, goals and desires for empty things, and fill us with Your Hearts desire. Make our greatest passion to know you, the power of your resurrection, the fellowship of your sufferings, and the fulfillment of your eternal purpose in this earth.
And then, as we hunger and thirst for your righteousness, fill us with both the understanding and power we need to move forward by every subtle direction of your hand. Guide us even by the look in your eye. Then, and only then, will we know the satisfaction of living in that which delights you, for those things that give you joy, will become our strength!
In Jesus precious Name,
