The Fall season
is surely the harvest time of the year. During the Spring
months
the farmers or sowers turn
up the ground and plant their seeds. Then during the Summer
months, with the heat of the sun and the refreshing of the rain
the seeds spring up. A yellow corn seed becomes a tall green plant
with ears of corn on it. A little wheat seed becomes a full wheat
plant. Then at the end of the summer, during the fall season,
comes the time of the harvest. That's the best time of all, because
you get to enjoy all the food that grew all summer long.
The farmer can now go out into his field and gather up all the
corn, wheat and whatever else he planted during the spring time
and feast on it all winter long. What pleasure he must
have in his harvest time.
In the bible we see another harvest. This is called the harvest of the Lord. The Lord's harvest is a spiritual one. God plants seeds of His Word into us and with the watering of His Spirit and the warmth of His love, those seeds begin to grow. As His word grows in us we begin to understand His ways and we desire to be like Him, for He is a very good experience to us. As we become more and more like God, we take on a change. We are not the old person we used to be, and other people begin to notice our change. We find ourselves doing good things for people, being kinder, not getting mad as easily as we used to. These are called good fruits in us. The bible says you will know a tree by the fruit it bears. We can tell an apple tree because of the fruit that grows on it. A tree, planted by the Lord, you will show forth the fruit of His spirit. In the book of Galatians chapter 5 and verse 22 & 23 we see what the fruit of the spirit is, love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.
In the book of St. Luke chapter 10 and verse 2 it says, the harvest is GREAT, but the laborers are few, therefore pray that the Lord of the harvest would send forth laborers into His harvest.
The Bible says that the harvest is ready but the laborers are FEW. As we grow in God we become His laborers. A laborer is one who goes forth in God and works in the earth doing good and showing God to people who don't know Him. They stand with loving arms open to bring cheer to a sad heart. They listen when someone needs to talk about a problem. And they share their experience of God, with those who don't know Him, in hopes that they can get a relationship with God for themselves. Are you showing forth the fruits of God's spirit that all people can see and know that you are planted of the Lord? There is a crop of the Lord ready to be harvested, lets pray the Lord would send US out as His laborers of love, to help gather in the harvest of the Lord, unto Him.
There
is a song I would like to leave with you.
